Nüshu

  In this creative workshop we will explore the unique female script Nüshu in dialogue with award-winning interdisciplinary artist Jiayi Chen. Delving into themes of language and identity and drawing connections between cultural traditions and contemporary art, participants will learn about the cultural significance of Nüshu while creating their own handmade lacquer marbling bookmark. 

 Jiayi was the recipient of a Creative Edinburgh Award in 2024. Her production, Weaving Me, Weaving Mum received Best Production Runner-Up at the Asian Arts Awards during 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
